Advisory & Fractional CTO
Senior technology leadership for founders and CEOs, without a full-time hire.
Sound familiar?
- “Engineering feels slow and I can’t tell why.”
- You need your first engineering managers and aren’t sure who or how.
- The roadmap and what engineering delivers don’t line up with product.
- You’re a founder growing into the CEO role, and the tech side still runs through you.
Advisory retainer
Monthly sparring for founders and CEOs. We meet regularly to work through engineering, team and delivery questions, and you can reach me between sessions when something comes up.
- Regular sessions, typically two a month
- Async access by message or email in between
- Reviews of plans, org charts, hiring decisions and technical strategy
Example (anonymised): a founder of a growing software company felt engineering had stopped keeping up with sales. Together we mapped where work was getting stuck, set up the first engineering manager role and agreed a simple way to plan with product. Within a few months the founder was out of day-to-day engineering decisions.
Fractional CTO / VP of Engineering
Hands-on leadership one or two days a week, for companies between CTO hires or scaling faster than their engineering leadership.
- Running engineering leadership meetings, planning and reviews
- Hiring and onboarding engineering managers
- Fixing delivery: release process, priorities and team setup
- Preparing the ground for, and helping hire, a full-time successor
Example (anonymised): a scaleup was growing its engineering team fast while its release process still took months. I took over engineering leadership part-time, reorganised teams around products and introduced smaller, regular releases, cutting the release cycle to weeks.
